The History:
Birbal Boodram grew up in Kelly Village, Trinidad as a Hindu. He came to know Christ through a Trini missionary at age 16. Later, the Lord called him to Christian ministry and although he had been asked to play professional Cricket, a very high accomplishment in Trinidad, he left there for the U.S. to attend Florida Bible College. After earning his Doctorate in Theology, although he was given the opportunity to remain in the U.S. and lead a ministry, his heart led him back to his homeland where so many like him who had left to be educated in the U.S. would never return. God called him to return to his home town, Kelly Village, Caroni in 1973 and begin ministry to reverse this trend. After three years they had enough new Christians to begin Kelly Community Bible Church (KCBC). Dr. Boodram’s parents gave he and his wife Shano Annette some family land and from the shack that was their first home grew the church and Bible Institute Compound that exists today solely by the blessed hand of Christ Jesus.
Kelly Community Bible Church:
Over the 31 years since inception, KCBC, led by Dr. Birbal Boodram, B.A.; M.Min.; D.Min.; ThD., who everyone knows as “Rev,” has flourished by a ministry of love and hospitality to others regardless of their religion or race. Local Trini people know this church is there for them whether they are members or not. And God uses this love and hospitality to teach unbelievers what He is like through these humble children in this precious church.
Trinidad Bible Institute:
Dr. Boodram had a vision and passion for KCBC to spread ministry throughout Trinidad and neighboring South American and Caribbean countries by planting Bible College extensions that educate laypeople and pastors in the true Word of God and correct Biblical teaching based on the Gospel. And in 1989, he formed Trinidad Bible Institute (TBI).
Today, Trinidad Bible Institute plays a key role in building the Kingdom of Jesus Christ through its extension classes in St. Lucia, Guyana and Trinidad. TBI students are first taught by Dr. Boodram and his faculty for two years, and they achieve an Associate Degree in Theology. Then the graduates, under the leadership of TBI, teach new classes of their own people in their own homeland.
Solid Rock Theological Seminary:
Those who the Lord calls to then pursue full time ministry are able to continue pursuit of their studies with Solid Rock Theological Seminary (SRTS), the parent institution of TBI. Dr. Boodram is Director and Caribbean Coordinator for the Trinidad Extension of SRTS. Studies with SRTS ultimately provide an Internationally Accredited Doctorate of Theology Degree. The main SRTS faculty and campus is based in India.
